A collaborative research project exploring contemporary European film and television drama.
Funded by Humanities in the European Research Area (HERA)
Project description
In modern societies, cultural encounters are to a large degree mediated encounters. The MeCETES project is founded on the premise that our experience of other Europeans is heavily mediated through film and television.
Research questions
The central research question in the MeCETES project is: what sorts of trans-European cultural encounters do films and television drama enable, why, how and with what impact?
Methodology
The MeCETES project combines a broad analysis of contemporary trends in European film and television production, distribution, reception and policy together with more qualitative case studies of particular dramas.
Progress reports
The MeCETES team provides regular progress reports to our funding body HERA.
