ABOUT US

THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MEDIA AND HISTORY (IAMHIST) IS A SCHOLARLY ORGANIZATION WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER ARCHIVISTS, HISTORIANS, SCHOLARS AND PROFESSIONALS WITH AN INTEREST IN MEDIA HISTORY. FOUNDED IN THE SUMMER OF 1977, IT ORGANIZES BIENNIAL CONFERENCES, WHICH HAVE TYPICALLY ROTATED BETWEEN VENUES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, THE UNITED STATES AND CONTINENTAL EUROPE. THE CURRENT PRESIDENT IS LEEN ENGELEN (KU LEUVEN, BELGIUM): A WELCOME FROM THE IAMHIST PRESIDENT |. THE ASSOCIATION HAS MEMBERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD AND IS MANAGED BY THE IAMHIST COUNCIL. THE ASSOCIATION AWARDS SEVERAL PRIZES AND PUBLISHES THE HISTORICAL JOURNAL OF FILM, RADIO AND TELEVISION AND THE IAMHIST BLOG. IAMHIST SUPPORTS A BROAD RANGE OF ACADEMIC PROJECTS ON MEDIA HISTORY, AND IT PARTICULARLY WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES AND IS DEVOTED TO PROMOTING EARLY-CAREER SCHOLARS AND THEIR RESEARCH (SEE, FOR EXAMPLE, THE ANNUAL MASTER CLASS AND THE BIENNIAL IAMHIST CHALLENGE). IT IS COMITTED TO GOOD ACADEMIC PRACTICE AND THE OPEN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS ACROSS REGIONS AND COUNTRIES, AS WELL AS DIFFERENT PROFESSIONS: IAMHIST Statement on Diversity |. AS AN INCLUSIVE ORGANISATION, AND IAMHIST WELCOMES ALL MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC AND ARCHIVAL COMMUNITY AND MEDIA PROFESSIONALS.
