As president of IAMHIST, I’d like to welcome you to our website.
Since 1977 the International Association for Media and History has been bringing together scholars, media practitioners and archivists with an interest in looking at history through the lens of audio/visual media and in the development of the media themselves. Since the pioneering days, the field has matured and grown and we are happy to have contributed to its development for over forty years.
IAMHIST is devoted to stimulating intellectual debate, discussion and exchange in the field. IAMHIST publishes the Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television and organises biennial conferences. We host a lively blog on the website and award several prizes for multimedia work and scholarship in the field of media and history.
In all our events and initiatives, we especially value the dialogue with and involvement of early career researchers and professionals for whom we organise our annual master class and special early career events. We also support their work through the Philip M. Taylor IAMHIST-Routledge Prize for the Best Article published in the HJFRT by a new scholar.
Welcome to IAMHIST. We look forward to you contribution to our field and our work –
