The International Association for Media and History promotes the exploration of the interplay between historical inquiry and a wide range of media. To this end we bring together scholars, practitioners and archivists with an interest in looking at history through the lens of audio-visual media and interpreting media through a historical perspective. We strongly believe in the importance of intellectual debate, discussion and exchange in the field beyond disciplinary and professional boundaries. In everything we do, we especially value the dialogue with and involvement of early career researchers and practitioners from all over the world.

To realize its goals IAMHIST organizes international conferences and master classes and awards prizes to outstanding voices in the field. We publish the Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television as well as a lively online Blog. An overview of all our activities can be found on our website.

The association was founded in 1977.
